Imitation is flattery, no? Beware: S-E just might steal your band's name for a song title next (maybe we'll steal a riff while we're at it, too). Only kidding. Or not.

ANYWAY - Mega huge thank-yous to all the good people who attended the Minneapolis and Chicago shows this weekend. I think I can safely write on behalf of our group and also Traindodge that much fun was had by all. (Extra shout outs to video-er Gravey and his fellow front-of-stage troublemakers for their boundless, endless, overflowing enthusiasm and support since before I can really recall - y'all know who you is and so do we.) We'll be finalizing the mixes of our newest batch of songs this week, and we can't wait to get the album done and out to you. Expect a release show August 3rd or 4th at the Triple Rock - we'll relay the details as soon as we know more.

MEANWHILE - Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 9th, because you absolutely WILL NOT WANT TO MISS Hardcore Crayons' CD release show at Hell's Kitchen. We'll be performing, and I've heard rumors that The Book of Right On and Bloodnstuff will be taking the stage that night, too. We'll count on seeing you there. The heat is on. It's on the street. Summer of Oh Twelve is gonna be seriously rock awesome.

Best,
C-rad.

BUILDING A FORTRESS

So we've settled on the title "We Built a Fortress on Short Notice" for the forthcoming album, but y'all know we took our own damn sweet time putting it together, didn't we now? Once again, we drove down to The Mousetrap (http://carlamburn.com/) in Norman, OK to get it on tape (or on computer, I guess). We managed to record 13 songs in less than six days, 10 of which will appear on the U.S. release (CD and vinyl through doubleplusgood records) and all 13 on the Japan release (CD only through Stiff Slack records). Hats off to Carl Amburn, our champion of breakfasts, studio guru, and all-around magic man - he manages to bring out the best in this band, every time. (I'd call him a record producer, but he'd deny it, so let's just say "engineer.") Carl's in the process of mixing the songs as I write - everything's really starting to come together. Stay posted for details on the album release show.

We have some terrific shows lined up for the coming months: we'll be at Cause (SE corner of Lake and Lyndale, MPLS) on Friday, April 20 with our friends Traindodge (OK) and the Twin Cities' one and only Buildings; Saturday, April 21 we'll be at Quenchers in Chicago (that means road trip for you Twin Cities folks), again with Traindodge and also with Chicago's own The Midwestern. We're also looking forward to playing Hardcore Crayons' CD release show in June - stay tuned for details on that one.

Oh, I almost forgot - we're playing a handful of shows in Tokyo and Nagoya this July. Yep, we're going to Japan. Can't hardly wait. I'll be back with more news sooner than later. Meanwhile, keep in touch with us through Facebook or whatever (duh). Much love.

AUTUMN:  THE GOTHEST OF ALL SEASONS

It's true, I'm about ready to bust out my copy of Unwound's "Leaves Turn Inside You". Or maybe some Bahaus.

Anyway, we have a bunch of fancy rock shows coming up this fall, including a stint in the next few days with our good pals from North Carolina, The Bronzed Chorus. After that, a few more regional shows, and then another mini-tour with or local brothers and new labelmates Buildings, who will be releasing their new album "Melt, Cry, Sleep".

Speaking of new albums, we're going to be demoing our new songs in the next few months and then recording with the one and only Carl Amburn sometime in the late winter / early spring. It's gonna be another full length, and we think the material is stronger than anything else we've ever done (well of course we do). Gettin' excited!

Check out the shows page for details about the upcoming rock soirees, including this weekend.

Cheers!
